This wonderful antique Silver locket was made in England in the year 1879, under the reign of Queen Victoria. The style is often referred to as "Victorian Aesthetic" due to its popularity during Queen Victoria's reign between 1837 and 1902, and we can completely understand why they loved it so much!
The locket is embellished with a pretty wildlife scene with an elegant stork, or perhaps a crane? .. and in the background, there are beautiful trees and reeds, and an unusual embossed border.
As you can see a combination of patterns and textures, embossed sections and parts in relief create a detailed and lively jewel.
The locket comes complete with a gorgeous chunky Victorian Silver chain, and an oversized bolt ring- as was the fashion during the 1800's.
The chain is approximately 18" or 45cm long, so the locket rests perfectly in place, just below your collarbone for a wonderful statement piece. The set is quite versatile as they can be worn together, or mixed and matched with your other favourite pieces!
For a more low-key look, you can pair the locket with a simple belcher chain. The chain is special enough to be worn on its own, or you can add other pendants or charms to really personalize it.
