This old vertical pocket tin was for Velvet Pipe & Cigarette Tobacco. The colorful red tin has a picture of both a smoking pipe and a lit cigarette on the front. On the back is information about the Kentucky Burley tobacco used for this brand. This was manufactured by The Pinkerton Tobacco Company, a subsidiary of Liggett & Meyers Inc. as shown on one side panel. The top of the hinged lid is raised by pushing up as indicated on the front of the tin. I believe this is from the 1970’s or 1980’s.
The empty tin measures about 4 ¼” high by 3” wide by 15/16” thick and is in very good condition with nice color and gloss and no dents. The hinge works and is actually quite tight. The lid is discolored.
The pictures are not shown at actual size. Please refer to the description for actual measurements.
