This old pressed steel toy is a Buddy-L Department of Park dump truck. Albert W. McCollough’s Buddy-L Toys book describes it as the #5522 Department of Parks Dumper 1959. It is painted a bright yellow with original decals on both doors. It has lever on the driver’s side for manually operating the dump bed which has a hinged tailgate. It has a one piece, plated, eight hole grill with dual headlights. The hollow back, black Non-Mar tires have silvery five segment wheels with small nubs. They’re marked Buddy-L USA 10.00x20. I believe this was made into the early 1960’s.
It measures about 14 ½” long, 5 ¼” wide across the dump bed and 5 1/8” high. It is in very good original condition with nice gloss, minimal scuff and scratch wear and small chips to the paint. There is a little loss of silver paint on the wheels.
