What a treat it would have been to find this under the tree on Christmas morning! This wonderful old toy is from the Kenton line of horse drawn vehicles that resumed production in 1939 and ran until 1954. This is the surrey with two white horses. The doorless carriage has a dark blue body with two seats, one for the driver and one for the lady passenger. The wagon has large spoked yellow wheels that match the smaller wheels and wagon pole. Small chains attach the horses to the tree of the pole. The seats and the horses have some gold detailing. The driver is dressed in red with a black top hat and he has a cord that is attached to the horses. The proper lady passenger is dressed in light yellow with a green feather in her hat. The carriage comes with the detachable cloth canopy that is trimmed with a goldish yellow fringe. The wire supports of the canopy fit into small holes on the side of each seat.
It measures about 12” from horse hoof to the back of the rear wagon wheel and about 6” high to the top of the canopy. It is in very good condition with good gloss and bright original colors. There is minimal wear and there is no damage to the cast iron. The canopy has some stains and the fringe is a little crumpled. The rein string appears to be replaced.
