This old Occupied Japan windup is made of celluloid and was made during the late 1940's - early 1950's. When wound up the cowboy twirls his lariat while the pink and white horse vibrates turning in a circle on his hind legs while his tail spins. It is marked Made in Japan on the riders back. And on the belly of the horse it reads; Made in Occupied Japan. There is one shown in Toys from Occupied Japan by Anthony R. Marsella with its box and it is called RANCHER.
It measures about 5” to the top of the cowboy's hand with the lasso above that. The horse measures about 5 ¼” long from nose to tail. It is in very good, working condition with minimal wear.
