These pieces are from an old Nativity set but tell the story on their own. The pieces are made of papier mache composition which appear to be hand painted The pieces are the baby Jesus lying in the manger, his Mother Mary and Joseph. Joseph is holding a removeable wire crook in his right hand. The bottoms of Mary and Joseph are stamped; Japan with a wreath and clover trademark. The bottom of the manger is just stamped Japan. I would assume these pieces are from the late 1950’s.
The Joseph measures about 5 7/8” to the tall to the top his head. Mary measures about 5 ¼” tall and the manger measures about 2 7/8” long by 2 ¼” wide by 2” high. All of the pieces are in generally good condition with light age wear. There is a little paint loss on all of the pieces, the worst being on Mary’s nose as shown in the close-up photograph.
Priced and sold as the group of three (3).
