This old malt canister is made of an opaque white glass which is generally referred to as milk-glass. Stenciled on the front in red is CARNATION and MALTED MILK is in green. These were commonly found on the back bar of old soda fountains and held the powdered malt for making malts as opposed to shakes. They were provided by different companies to advertise their product and to keep their company name in view. This has its original aluminum lid.
It measures about 8 5/8” tall with the lid on and the glass canister measures about 6” high without the lid and about 6 ¼” in diameter at the top and 5 ¾” in diameter at the bottom. It is in very good condition with minimum wear. There is what appears to be a teeny nick on the top edge of the rim that is smooth and might be a mold imperfection. There are no cracks. There is a minimal amount of discoloration and surface wear to the lid and a few tiny dents.
