This old marble game was made by the Baldwin Manufacturing Company of Brooklyn New York. A colorful tin platform with nine holes in the center makes the playing surface for a fun game of tic tac toe also called three in a row. A depressed tray at either end holds the glass marbles, five blue at one end and five yellow at the other end. Above each trough is the Baldwin company logo and No. 228.
The game measures about 6” by 12” by 5/8” high and it is in very nice condition. The litho on the tin has some light scuffs and minimal paint loss but it doesn’t look like it’s had any play wear, the marbles are taped into their trays and it looks like the original tape.
This game comes the original box with colorful graphics. The front of the box shows two boys playing the game, one is having fun and the other seems quite distraught as he’s watching himself lose. Across the edges it reads; A New Way to Play an Old Pastime. The back has childlike tic-tac-toe games drawn on it along with the company information. The box measures about 6 ¼” by 12 ¼” by 5/8” deep and it is in fair condition. The graphics are strong and show well but the end flaps on one end are completely missing and there are torn sections on both the front and back side. The flaps are attached on the other end but it is torn also. The back also has a dark stain near the top right.
