This box of 100 Sweetheart, Mother Goose straws appears to full of the thin pastel colored straws that you can see through the cellophane window on the front. There is a nice image for the nursery rhyme Old Mother Hubbard with an older woman on a small step stool in front of the cupboard. One side of the cupboard has a paper door with a cut-out heart that can be opened and closed and this one doesn’t appear to have been opened. At granny’s feet is a small white dog begging for its bone. On the back and sides are depictions of numerous nursery rhymes including Old Woman in the Shoe, Peter Pumpkin Eater, Hey Diddle Diddle and several others. These were made by the Coast Maid Paper Products Company of Los Angeles probably in the early 1950's.
The box measures about 8 ¾” long by 3 5/8" wide by 7/8” deep and is in very nice condition minor edge and corner wear. There is a small piece of tape at the bottom edge of one side and the bottom corner. It looks like the seam was coming apart rather than torn but I can’t tell for sure and don’t want to remove the tape for fear that I might tear the graphics. The original cellophane window is intact. The straws measure about 8 ½” long and the box seems to be full.
