This beautiful holiday calendar is a traditional advent calendar with little windows to be opened on the 24 days leading up to Christmas. A sweet rendition of the nativity scene with Mary and Joseph and the livestock gazing at the Child in the manger. Little angels kneel in prayer or look on and smile in wonderment. Even a few little rabbits and small birds are coming to witness the event. The entire image is enhanced with dark glitter. Hidden in the picture are small doors numbered from 1 to 24. Sometimes there are little pictures but this one appears to have short passages from the Bible. One corner of the front has Haco 69 and the other has Printed in Western Germany. On the back it shows that the original price was 25c. Many a child has delighted in calendars like this in counting down the days until Christmas. I believe this one is from the 1950’s.
It measures about 7 ¾” by 11” and is in very nice, used condition with minor edge and corner wear. All of the windows have been opened and have a creased edge but they close pretty well and can still keep a secret until the day of opening. The glitter may have been more sparkly years ago but that's really an unknown. There are small tack holes in the corners as this was probably hung on the wall. The back has been used for a math problem and there is a stain in the lower portion.
The pictures are not shown at actual size. Please refer to the description for actual measurements.
