These old patriotic matches feature Uncle Sam. There are four matchbooks so they are shown with the top portion of one and the bottom portion of the other which completes the colorful picture of Uncle Sam straddled over the U.S.A.. To the side of him it reads; United We Stand! Across the ends it reads; Universal Match Corp. New York - Patent Pending.

Each package measures about 2” by 3” in the closed position. These have not been used but their condition is less than perfect. They all show some moisture staining and discoloration, particularly on the bottom halves. The paper is quite brittle and there is a tear on one that has been opened and the other would probably tear if they were opened. The staples along the striking edge are rusty which has caused stain marks on the side they were up against.
