This interesting piece of old pottery was made in Mexico. The handled mug looks somewhat like a sphinx and might be a representation of the human-jaguar symbol apparently used by the Maya, Olmec and Aztec people. It has brightly colored glazes over a gray ground. On the bottom it is marked; MEXICO A.S..
It measures about 6 ¾” tall. The base measures about 3” by 3 7/8” and the top rim measures about 2 5/8” side to side and 2 ¾” front to back. It is in good condition with minimal wear. There is one tiny glaze chip rough spot on the rim which I have pointed out in the photo.
