Housed in its original green plastic box is this old Singer model 489500 or 489510 Buttonholer. The case has several nicknames including clamshell, torpedo, bullet, Jetsons and Rocketeer. This vintage attachment is for making professional looking buttonholes on “Singer Family Sewing Machines”. The booklet doesn’t specify which model this is for but the bar next to the fork arm is marked Straight so I assume it is for straight needle machine like the Featherweight and not for slant needle machines but I can’t guarantee that it will work with a specific model. It comes with a total of 9 cams, the knurled screw for attaching it to the sewing machine, the feed cover plate with its screw and the instruction booklet. The body is made of a cream colored plastic over the metal mechanism. The booklet has a 1960 copyright date.
The attachment is in very good condition with minimal wear. The plastic box is also in good condition with minor wear..
The pictures are not shown at actual size. Please refer to the description for actual measurements.
