If you remember a time when you dressed up to get on an airplane and then you felt special once you were seated then you might remember getting a menu like this. This old menu, printed on lightweight stock, is from a Pan American flight. The front of the folded paper has a scenic view that reads; Argentina-Chile – Bariloche in the lake region. The inside reminds us of another time for sure. Cocktails were 50c and cigarettes (offered on the menu) were 25 cents. A nice meal was offered which included soup, veal entrée, mushrooms and pilaf, salad, cheese, dessert, coffee & tea. The menu was offered in English and I believe French. A split of wine was 25c and a split of Charles Heidsieck champagne was $1.00. Pan American, World’s Most Experienced Airlines. Rainbow Service must have been quite a travel treat. The back side of the folded menu has a place for an address and stamp so you could have sent it as a souvenir postcard. I believe this menu is from the late 1950’s or early 1960’s.
It measures about 6 1/8” by 8 5/8” in its folded state. It is in nice condition with light crease wear, especially along the bottom front edge and minimal soiling.
The pictures are not shown at actual size. Please refer to the description for actual measurements.
