This old wine coaster will adorn your dinner table and save your fine linen tablecloth. The coaster has a wood bottom that appears to be mahogany. The side wall has a simple design with slots and dots and the top edge looks like a twisted rope. On the bottom is a green felt inset. Along the bottom edge of the silver is a hallmark that looks like a shield with crossed skeleton keys. This hallmark has been used by many companies, most generally in Sheffield England which is where I believe this piece is from, probably from the early 1900’s. It has understated elegance and makes a beautiful drip catcher for a bottle of red wine.
It measures about 4 5/16” in exterior diameter and about 3 ¾” interior diameter so it holds a 750 ml bottle with plenty of room to spare and it also holds some 1.5L bottles but maybe not all of them. It measures about 1 ¾” high. It is in very good condition with minimal wear and no damage.
