This old menu is from Broussard’s, one of the four classic creole restaurants of New Orleans that were known as the Grand Dames. I believe the restaurant opened in 1920 and it served a wide variety of food but was known for its French and creole flair. The menu has a couple of pages. On the inside front cover is an extensive cocktail and wine list…how fun, ordering a Courvoisier for 80c! Gourmet Specials is on the next page with multi-course meals for no more than $3.75. The next pages have an extensive and varied ala-carte menu and the next page is desserts and coffees. The inside back page has two meals that must have been true delicacies with prices of $6.50 and $7.00. R.E. “Bobby” Butler was the manager at the time of this menu which I believe is from the 1950’s.
It measures about 9” by 12” in its closed state and is in nice condition with light edge and corner wear and some soiling.
