This old celluloid tape measure is advertising Buckeye, a company that was apparently associated with the Proctor & Gamble company. The green ans white tape measure has the same graphics on both side reading; Buckeye – first in cellulose. It also has images of cotton and trees. It has a slide locking mechanism on the edge to hold the yellow cloth tape from reacting. Along the edge it is marked PNCO Chgo. (Parisian Novelty Co. of Chicago) and a patent that would be from the 1951.
It measures about 1 3/8” in diameter and is in good condition with minimal wear to the celluloid. The yellow cloth tape is in good condition. It generally pulls out and usually retracts well but occasionally the locking mechanism is touchy and it needs a little coaxing to get it to retract.
The pictures are not shown at actual size. Please refer to the description for actual measurements.
