This old ice cream dipper was manufactured by the Kingery Mfg. Co. of Cincinnati, Ohio. It is nickel plated with a squeeze handle mechanism. The bowl is conical and it is a size 8 (eight scoops to the quart) which is marked where the handle is attached to the bowl. In Wayne Smith's book; Ice Cream Dippers, there is an old ad which refers to the scoop as Kingery’s Rapid Ice Cream Disher with an 1894 patent. When the fancy metal handle is squeezed the bowl rotates and the four wiper blades release the ice cream. On one of the wipers it reads; Kingery Mf‘g. Co. Cin‘ti, O.
It measures about 8 5/8” in total length and the bowl measures about 2 7/8” in diameter by 2 ½” high. It is in very good original condition with minimal wear. The spring mechanism works well and the plating is quite good with minimal wear and discoloration. There are minimal nicks and dents to the cone shaped bowl from use.
