This beautiful old Christmas plate was made by the Frankoma Potteries of Oklahoma in 1973. Since 1965 the Frankoma Potteries have been producing annual Christmas plates. This one is called "The Annunciation" Luke 1:28-35. It represents the announcement, to Mary, of the miraculous conception of God's Son. On the back it is marked FRANKOMA with a copyright mark- J.F. 1973 and the John Frank signature. It also has two holes on the back side for putting a wire through to hang up. This white glaze was apparently called Della Robia White.
It measures about 8 1/2" in diameter and is in very good condition showing almost no wear.
