This bottle opener is advertising The Biltmore Hotel of Los Angeles on one side. I believe this served not only as a convenient bottle opener but also as a handy shoehorn. It would have been a good promo piece that could be taken as a souvenir and then used for several reasons. It is a heavy stamped metal which would have been best for the opener but perhaps a little awkward for the shoehorn. The back of the handle reads; Vaughan U.S.A.. The Vaughan company was located in Chicago and made bottle and can openers in the 1930’s.
It measures almost 3 ½” long by 1 ½” at the widest part ( the opener end). It is in very good condition with minimal wear.
