This old Wafer compact is made of a gold tone metal which appears to be brass. The pop open lid is enamel with a chased guilloche design that includes three roses. The color is a pretty green that reminds me of a color that was referred to as sea foam green. The rim around the outer edge and the bottom are painted with an enamel like paint that is slightly darker than the lid. The button on the front pops the lid open to the compartment that would have held powder and a puff. Inside the hinged lid is a mirror that actually appears to be polished metal rather than glass. Along the hinge edge it reads; Wafer.
It measures about 2 ½” in diameter by 1 ¾” by 5/8” thick. Overall it is in very nice condition with minor wear. There is minimal paint loss and a little discoloration to the brass as shown in the photos. The metallic mirror has some scratch wear. The latch works properly.
