The front of this old Colorado Beaver Teeth box states “The Best Friend A Dull Edge Ever Had”. Enclosed in the box are two ceramic rods and a wood base for holding them at the proper angle for sharpening “all pocket, hunting and most household knives”. The wood base is printed with; Give Yourself an Edge – COOP Feed and Grain Equipment so this was probably given to loyal customers of that company. The instruction for using and cleaning are printed on the back of the box. The box also states that this is ideal for hunters, fishermen, trappers, chefs, households, packing houses, food processors, etc., it almost makes you wonder how anyone can survive without it! There are no dates or patents to date this accurately.
The wood block measures about 10” long by 1 7/8” wide by ¾” thick and the ceramic rods measure about 3/8” in diameter by 10” long. The pieces are in very good condition and appear to have never been used. The box measures about 10 1/16” by 2 3/8” by 7/8” and it is in nice condition with some edge and corner wear, scuffs, scratches and soiling.
