This old bisque baby doll has an adorable face and the back of the head is marked Germany A 2/0 R which is thought to be one of the marks used by Theodor Recknagel whose porcelain factory was located in Alexandrienthal, near Thuringia, Germany. The baby has a smiling mouth, rosy cheeks, blue glass sleep eyes and molded hair. It has a muslin cloth body with composition arms, no clothes except for knit leggings. I believe this is from the late 1890’s - early 1900’s.
The little doll measures 7” in length. The bisque head is good with no cracks, chips or breaks and minor paint scuffs. The eyes open and close properly but there is a little paint loss on the lids. The excelsior filled cloth body is free of holes but the composition arms are badly crazed and chipped but all fingers are accounted for.
The pictures are not shown at actual size. Please refer to the description for actual measurements.
