This vintage tin was for Honest Labor Cut Plug tobacco. The graphics on the top of the hinged lid include the Honest Labor Trade Mark with a muscular arm holding a hammer. It also states that the tobacco was carefully selected from “Three Year Old Leaf”. Across the front of the tin it reads; You Know it is Good Because Manufactured by R.A. Patterson Tobacco Co. Richmond, VA. The back edge of the tin has the factory seal and reads; Honest Labor Cut Plug for the Pipe. The tin was made by the American Can Co. and I believe it is from the early 1900’s.
It measures about 4 5/8” by 2 5/8” by 1 1/16” and is in nice condition with good gloss and minor scuff and scratch wear and good gloss. The worst area is on the top right corner of the lid. There are remnants of the tax stamp seal on either end.
The pictures are not shown at actual size. Please refer to the description for actual measurements.
