These old valentines have the common theme of children at play and both were given to Sheldon in the late 1930’s..
The first has a little girl driving her fancy yellow and black pedal car. It reads; Over the Hills My Heart Will Speed - Direct to You it Will Lead. The paper is lightly embossed and it has golden accents around the heart. It was written to Sheldon, dated 1938.
It measures about 3 9/16” high by 3 1/16” wide and is in nice condition with minimal edge wear and soiling.
The second card has a young boy and girl coasting down a hill in a silver wagon. It is quite sharp with the black, red and shiny, metallic silver on the white background. The hearts in the corner read; Valentine Be Mine. It was made in the U.S.A.. It was written to Sheldon, dated 1939.
It measures about 3 ½” wide by 4 3/8” high and is in fair condition with minimal edge wear but there is a small tear and crease near the lower left hand side.
Priced and sold as the pair.
