This is an old sewing kit that would have probably been carried in a lady’s overnight bag to handle emergency repairs. The round tin is made of brass which is painted pink. The lid has a little embossed detailing round the top edge and it is hinged at the back. Inside there are four little cardboard tubes with fine thread. Three have brown earth tone thread and one has a small amount of white thread. There is a thimble inside which is marked with either an 8 or a 9. A needle is attached to a small slip of paper that reads; For Edna – Used by Aunt Anna.
The tin measures about and 2 ½” in diameter by 1” high and is in fairly good condition with light scuff wear and paint loss. None of the thread spools are full and the white has the least. The thimble is plain but in good condition with no holes in the stippled area.
