This is a vintage planter with a young boy pushing a large wheelbarrow. He’s wearing overalls and a large hat that gives you the indication that he’s working in the garden. He has dark wavy hair peeking from beneath the brim of the hat and his face has nice detail. The wheelbarrow, including the wheel, has a texture to resemble wood. It appears that all of the colors are under glaze except, perhaps the lips. On the bottom it is marked with the E.S. Hazel - Dalton, O, 1950 copyright. It appears there were felt pads on the bottom which may or may not have been original to the piece.
The planter measures about 7 5/8” long by roughly 3” wide and 5 ½” high to the top of his hat. It is in very good condition with minor wear. There are some stains and calcium deposit marks on the inside of the planter which shows it was used and there are some firing stress cracks on the inside which are enhanced because of the stains. These do not show on the exterior of the piece.
The pictures are not shown at actual size. Please refer to the description for actual measurements.
