This old pottery shoe was made by the Frankoma Potteries of Oklahoma. In the 1985 Frankoma catalog this piece was identified as the 9” Dutch Shoe Planter for obvious reasons since it is fashioned after the traditional wooden shoe of the Netherlands. I believe this is the Woodland Moss glaze over the red Sapulpa clay. It is a pleasant grayish blue with warm brown tones coming through the blue glaze. On the bottom is the Frankoma name and the design number 913.
It measures about 9 ¼” from the heel to the tip of the toe and about 4” wide and 4” at the highest point. It is in very good condition with minimal wear and no damage.
