This small tin once held a Yankee single edge wedge razor blade for an early safety razor. The front is decorative with a smiling man, face covered with lather with a razor in his hand. On either side of him is an impressive eagle. It reads; Blade Case - Yankee - Safety Razors. On the back is text about Yankee Safety Razor Blades that were made by Reichard & Scheuber Mfg. Co. of New York. The inside has an embossed paper insert both top and bottom and the original holder for the blade but there is no blade. The tin was made by the American Can Company.
This little hinged tin measures about 2 3/16” by 1 1/8” and is in nice condition. The lid has good color and gloss with minimum wear. There is one fleck of paint off of the man’s nose as well as a little discoloration near it. The sides and edges have minor paint loss. Unfortunately, there was probably a price tag put on the back and when someone removed it they took the litho so there is a shiny metal spot. The inside is in nice clean condition as is the blade holder but as previously stated there is no blade in the blade holder.
