This old hardbound book by the American novelist Gwen Bristow, is titled Calico Palace. This is a fictional novel based around the historical San Francisco gold rush. At the beginning of the book there is even a street map of San Francisco dated 1851 which shows actual and fiction buildings that the story revolves around. It has 589 pages and has a 1970 copyright by the author. It was publishing by Thomas Y. Crowell of New York. No dust jacket.
It measures about 5 ½” by 8 ½” by 1 5/8” and is in fairly good but used condition. The inside pages are crisp and clean with minimal wear and soiling. The spine is generally tight but is broken in several palaces as I have shown in the photos. The hard cover is in fairly good, clean condition but there is a tear to the top of the spine edge which I have shown in the photos. The book’s shape is also distorted, probably due to the way it has been stored for most of the last forty plus years. The previous owners name is stamp on the inside cover. As previously stated this has no dust jacket.
The pictures are not shown at actual size. Please refer to the description for actual measurements.
