I believe this beautiful old glass shade was for a gas style light fixture. The thin glass might be considered a Vaseline custard because of the yellow green color which has an opalescence to it. The edge of the shade is slightly scalloped and flared. It has its original decorative metal shade holder with four cast arms that follow the contour of the shade. These arms have a leaf and bead motif and are connect with a decorative ball and chain swag that falls loosely on the shade. The metal is nonmagnetic, probably brass, with a copper and black finish often referred to as tiger striping. As a gas fixture shade it was meant to be used upright however it would be just as attractive turned the other way but would probably have to have a different connection for an electric lamp or ceiling fixture.
The flared edge diameter of the shade measures about 6 ½” and it measures about 7 ¾” high to the top of the shade with the with the shade holder making it a little taller. It is in very good condition with minimal wear. There are no chips or cracks to the glass. The metal has its original patina and has not been cleaned or polished.
