This well detailed old tin was for Tropical Brand Best Crystallized Ginger which was preserved with Sugar and Corn Syrup. The shield on the left side of the lid has stars and stripes but the fun is the crocodile or alligator that appears to be tethered to a palm tree. The lid is hinged at the back. It was from the Clausse Mfg. & Imp’g Co. of New Jersey. I believe this is from the early 1900’s.
It measures about 4 1/8” by 2 ½” by 1” high and is in very nice condition with good gloss and minimal wear.
