This stylized bird figure was made in Tonala Mexico which is apparently near Guadalajara. The bird looks somewhat like a dove or pigeon and is decorated in the fashion Tonala pieces are recognized for. It has a floral design on the sides and three figures on the back that could be butterflies or snails. It has a glossy glaze except for the bottom which is unglazed. On the bottom below the tail it is marked; Mex Tonala 11 577. Above that it appears to be the initials CAT or GAT which is probably an indication of the artist.
It measures about 7 ½” long and 4” high at the tail. It is in very nice condition with minimal wear and no damage.
The pictures are not shown at actual size. Please refer to the description for actual measurements.
