This cute bride and groom figure is an old music box. The young bride is wearing a ruffled skirt bridal gown with a gold ribbon at the waist. She has a short veiled hat with two gold bows over her blonde hair and she is carrying a bouquet of pink flowers. Her eyes are closed as she awaits a kiss from her husband. The groom is dressed in a black tuxedo , white shirt and black bow tie. His formal attire has a matte finish contrary to the gloss of the wedding gown. The groom’s eyes are also closed and his lips are puckered for the buss on the cheek. They are standing on a base that looks like a cake that is decorated with flowers and stems in pastel pink and green. In the base is a wind up music box that is activated by the lever on the back side of the base. The music box is wound by the key on the bottom. It plays the pretty tune, Bridal Chorus which we know as the Wedding March or Here Comes the Bride. The wood bottom has a small paper label that reads; Made in Japan. One of the small feet is stamped F943 on the bottom but there is no other identification as to the maker or distributor. I believe it is from the 1960’s.
It measures about 6 ½” tall and the base measures about 3 9/16” in diameter. It is in very good, working condition with minimal wear. There is a little roughness on the inside edge of one of the feet. There are also some numbers written on the outer rim of the base that probably mean something to the previous owner but not anything that I associate with.
