This is a nicely designed old ring with a 10k rose gold mount holding a synthetic ruby with a piece of Black Hills gold on the top. "Black Hills" is a style of jewelry made in the Black Hills area of South Dakota of tricolor gold (yellow, green, and pink). It is an eye catching ring with the beautiful color of the slap stone and the multicolored gold. The Black Hills piece is the grape leaf theme which is characteristic of Black Hills gold jewelry. The mounting has nice open work and it sit slightly high on the finger. The cast ring isn't especially well finished upon close look but it shows very nicely. It is hard to make out all of the markings inside the band but what I can make out is Black Hills -10K.
The stone measures about ½” square and is held by 4 prongs. It measures about an 8 1/2 on my ring mandrel. It is in very nice condition with minor wear and no damage
