These short thick glasses were used in old soda fountains to hold ice cream cones. This is a heavy duty style that would have held up well and might have been used at a lunch counter in a department store. Some say the soda jerk filled a number of cones with ice cream and placed them in the glasses to serve all at once. Others remember that these glasses kept the tips of the cones from dripping ice cream onto their clothes. They take a standard waffle cone, not the large ones. Some people have questioned whether these were used for grape juice but the thickness of the glass makes them very difficult to drink from. These are being sold as the group of four. Each glass has a slightly different color cast to the clear glass.
Each glass stands about 3 5/8” high and is about 2 ¼” in diameter across the top and 2” in diameter across the bottom. They are all in nice condition with generally minor wear however two of them have small issues. One has an internal flaw as shown in the photo and another has several chips on the base. Although these are being sold as the group of four, no value has been calculated for the damaged glass.
