This is an old tabletop lighter made by the Ronson Company of Woodbridge, New Jersey. The modernistic ceramic base holds a drop in metal lighter which I believe took butane. The thumb lever raises the cap and at the front is a small lever, probably for adjusting the flame, has a small blue rhinestone. The bottom of the lighter component is marked with the Ronson name and patent information. The sleek lines of the ceramic are enhanced with gold trim. On the bottom it reads; “Fantasy Varaflame” fashioned by Ronson – Woodbridge, N.J. U.S.A.. I believe this is from the late 1950’s – early 1960’s.
Overall it measures about 7 7/8” long by 2 ¾” wide and 2 5/8” high. The ceramic is in very good condition with minimal wear and no damage. There is minor wear to the gold detail. The metal has some pitting and discoloration. I believe it’s the flint spring which I have shown with the lighter. There is no screw to hold it where I believe it should go and I don’t know if there is anything else missing therefore I cannot state whether or not it works. It is being sold as is.
