This old German postcard was designed by the American illustrator Frances Brundage. This card has a pensive Father Time perhaps reflecting on the old year. It also has a curly haired, bright eyed child full of anticipation of the new year ahead. The embossed card is enhanced with a gold background and the greeting; A Happy New Year. The back states that it was made in Germany and was part of the “New Year” Series. It has correspondence and a stamp on the back. It has a cancellation date of 1911 but it also has a cancellation over the stamp that reads; World’s Panama-Pacific Exposition in San Francisco – 1915.
It measures about 3 ½” by 5 7/16” and is in nice condition with minimal edge and corner wear and soiling.
