This comical old porcelain piece was made by the Schafer & Vater Company of Germany in the early 1900's. The little man is dressed in an orange shirt, plaid kilt and green tam with blue pom-pom. He has a wide grin with a pipe to one side and bulging eyes glancing downward. His feet are pinned through the kilt so they swing freely as they dangle over the dished area below that has either a "C" or "G" in the center. Across the front it reads; Waiting for the Tide. Instead of being called a nodder these are sometimes referred to as "swingers". It has good colors and detail and all of the characteristics of an S & V piece. It is marked on the bottom with the S & V crown mark and a 4 digit number.
It measures about 4 3/8" high and is in very good condition with minimal wear and no damage.
