This old pry lid tin once held Peter Pan Peanut Butter from the Derby Foods company of Chicago. The front has a colorful picture of Peter Pan. There are a couple of scratches on the area with the picture. On the back is small explanation of their patented process and a patent which dates this to the early 1900's. There is also a Good Housekeeping seal on one side. It comes with a strange metal piece was used for opening tins and jars of Peter Pan Peanut Butter. The instructions read; Insert Under Cap - Turn Like Key, Vapor-Vacuum Jar Cap Opener, White Cap Co. Chicago. Pat. Pending.
The tin measures about 2 3/4" high and 3 9/16" in diameter and is in nice condition with light scratch wear. It has good color and gloss and makes a nice shelf piece even with the scratches. The opener measures about 2 3/8" by 1".
