This old napkin ring is commemorating the State of California and its mission heritage. The oval napkin ring is only engraved on one side but it has a lot to offer. In the center is the Great Seal of California. To the left of the seal is the word California and images of the state flower, the poppy. To the right of the seal is an image of mission bells similar to those of the towers in San Miguel and in San Diego. It reads; El Camino Real which is a tribute to The Kings Road traveled by Junipero Serra in the 1700’s. It is not marked so it is assumed to be made of silver plate and I believe this piece is probably from the early 1900’s and possibly a souvenir of the Panama Pacific International Exposition that was held in San Francisco in 1915.
The oval measures about 2 1/8” wide by 15/16” and it measures about ¾” high. It is in very good condition with minimal wear and no signs of base metal showing through.
The pictures are not shown at actual size. Please refer to the description for actual measurements.
