Ruth E. Newton’s illustrative charm is captured in these two old jigsaw puzzles taken from the Little Fireman series. The box has an adorable fireman standing on a ladder with a fire hose spraying water on a house. In the background is a little peering out of the window of the house. The two puzzles inside are just as cute. One has a fireman standing on the running board of the fire truck as he puts on his yellow jacket. The fire chief in his blue uniform is driving the fire engine. The other puzzle has two little boys in their black boot, slickers and fire hats saving the little doggies from harm’s way. This is the #3909 set of puzzles which are copyrighted by Whitman Publishing Co.. The box doesn’t state the number of puzzles in the box or the number of pieces in each puzzle. Research I have done indicates that this box came with only the two puzzles as shown here.
Each puzzle measures about 9 ½” by 10 3/8” and is complete and in nice condition with minor wear. The box measures about 9 7/8” by 10 ¾” by 1 ¼” and is in fairly nice condition with minor edge and corner wear, one torn corner and minor soiling.
The pictures are not shown at actual size. Please refer to the description for actual measurements.
