This pair of old Keen Kutter 7 ½” shears. Keen Kutter was a trademark used by the Simmons Hardware Co. and later by the Shapleigh Hardware Co., both of St. Louis. These scissors have the Keen Kutter name engraved on the outside edge of one blade and on the same side, above the screw is the Keen Kutter trademark. On the opposing side it is marked 7 ½ inch. These are plated steel with an original brass nut. They have a right hand grip.
The scissors actually measure about 8” long and are in nice but well used condition. The plating is worn through to the base metal in some places an there is some nick and scratch wear. There is no longer a slot in the screw head. It has been smoothed and peened, probably someone’s attempt to tighten them at some time. They are sharp enough to cut both paper and denim just fine.
