This old ice cream disher manufactured by the Erie Specialty Co. of Erie Pennsylvania in the early 1900’s. It appears to be made of nickeled brass and bronze with a wood handle. The bowl is a size 24 (twenty-four scoops to the quart) which is marked on the wiper blade inside the bowl. Other than the size it is not mark by the Q & E Specialty Co. but it is well documented.
It measures about 10” in length and the bowl measures about 1 7/8” in diameter. This scoop was well used but is still quite useable. The wiper mechanism works well and the bowl is generally dent free. The shaft is scarred from being rapped against the metal rim of an ice cream carton or counter. There is a loss of nickel so there are places on the shaft and thumb lever where the base metal shows through which can be seen in the photos. The ferrule is down to the brass. The handle is stained but in good condition with no splits. Over all it’s a useable old scoop in well used original condition.
