This old sterling spoon is a tribute to the fourth California mission founded by Father Serra. The inside of the bowl has a beautiful scene of the mission including the six bell campanili and the very small palm trees that line the walkway. Along the top edge it reads; San Gabriel Mission 1771. The front of the handle depicts a cluster of California oranges within the scrolled edge. The back of the handle has two flowers that might be orange blossoms with a delicate flowing detailed edge. Also on the back is the word Sterling as well as a single “S” which I have not identified.
It measures just slightly more than 5” long and is in very good condition with minor wear.
