I believe this old hand tool was used for shucking oysters or opening clam shells. It has a hefty wood handle and a rigid tapered blade that would work well for prying open shells. The tang of the blade appears to be pinned through one side of the handle. Near the metal ferrule the steel blade is marked Scala Solingen Germany. I believe it is from the 1950’s or 1960’s.
It measures about 7” in total length with the blade being about 3 5/16” long and almost ½” at the widest. It is in good condition with minor scratch wear and a little rust near the ferrule. The handle does not appear to have any finish on it and its in good condition with minor wear.
