The old display jar that went with this glass lid must have been quite impressive. I’m sure it would have taken center stage on the back bar of an old ice cream parlor or candy store. It has six wide panels that come to a point and a short collar that also has six sides It flares slightly with a small step down before the flat rim that would line up with the top edge of the mouth of the jar. It has a frosted band for a snug fit in a jar that would also have been ground. This is the lid only.
The total height of the lid is about 6 7/8”. The frosted section that fits into the jar measures about 1 3/16”. The top edge of the frosted band measures between 5 3/16”- 5 ¼” in diameter tapering to 4 7/8” - 4 1/16” in diameter. It is in very nice condition with minor wear. There are a few small nicks and chips but no cracks and no large chips. I have shown the worst ones in the photos. The lid weighs more than two pounds.
