This piece of black obsidian has a blotchy white pattern referred to as snowflakes. Obsidian is a volcanic glass and the white blotches are white cristobalite. The piece of polished rock has been fitted with a gold colored filigree cap so it can be worn as a pendant on a chain. It is not marked and is not presumed to be gold. I believe this was made in the 1980’s.
The overall length is about 1” and it measures about 5/8” at the widest and it is in very good condition with minimal wear. There are some naturally occurring inclusions.
The pictures are not shown at actual size. Please refer to the description for actual measurements.
