This nice perfume bottle is an old DeVilbiss atomizer. The lightly textured, mottled finish is often referred to as gold encrusted or rotten gold. The glass which is not covered by this finish is translucent with a simple black line design which gives is a Deco feel. An atomizer head screws into the brass cap that has a small bead detail. Inside the bottle is the glass siphon rod and attached to the mister head is the original cloth covered stem and bulb which are both dark brown. Both the cap and the bottom are marked; Devilbiss. I believe it is from the 1920’s or 1930’s.
This measures about 6 11/16” to the top of the finial and the base measures about 2 ¼” in diameter. It is in very nice condition with minor wear and no chips or cracks in the glass. Some of the gold is worn from the top edge of the base and some of the plating is worn off the brass cap. The rubber bulb is hard and brittle so it cannot be used. The bottle is empty but there is perfume residue on the cap and inside the bottle clouding the glass a little. Also, the residue of the perfume emits a strong fragrance!
