This old celluloid piece has two sides for assisting in the use and application of a steel square as it applies to roofing, as I understand it. It was One side has a Table of Tangents and the other side is a Rafter Table and both sides have a center dial that turns. This comes with a small booklet which explains the use of the tool with both text and diagrams as well as the original pouch to keep both items together and handy. The flap of the pouch reads; Key to the Steel Square by A.W. Woods - Lincoln Nebraska - Price $1.50 which was a fair amount of money in 1903. This is a 3rd Edition printing.
The celluloid measures about 2 15/16” square and is in nice condition with minimal wear although it is a little warped. The booklet measures about 3 11/16” by 3 13/16” and it is in very good condition with minimal wear and soiling. The leather like pouch measures about 4” by 4 5/8” and it is in very nice condition with minor scuff wear. The snap is tight and works well.
